Biometrics

Device-Based Enrollment#

Biometric security involves capturing and storing user's biometric imprints for later retrieval and verification. Imageware Authenticate utilizes a mobile device’s existing hardware to enroll user biometric data and then stores and encrypts that data in the Cloud.

Imageware does not link captured biometrics to corresponding biographic information, ensuring that the user remains anonymous.

Imageware Authenticate can incorporate new security protocols when new modalities—such as "liveness" detection—become available on mobile devices. Imageware Authenticate currently supports the following methods of biometric capture:

  • Face Map: Captured on the device’s camera, facial recognition software maps the thousands of data points that make each user's face unique
  • Voice Map: Using the device’s microphone, Imageware Authenticate captures the user speaking short phrases or a series of numbers, encrypting the length and modulation of the voice to make a “voice map”

Out-of-Band Identity Verification#

The Imageware Authenticate client application or service uses out-of-band biometric verification, such as voice or face recognition, to protect secured data and authenticate user identities. Out-of-band means that the user verifies their identity through a system operating completely independently and separately from the primary system provisioning the secured data, site, or protected transactions, in this case, the Imageware Authenticate servers.

  1. An individual attempts to access an account or site protected by an organization with an established tenant relationship with Imageware.
  2. The tenant's servers notify Imageware of the access request.
  3. Imageware servers push an authentication alert to the user's mobile device.
  4. The user provides a biometric for a verification or rejects the transaction using Imageware Authenticate.
  5. The Imageware server returns a verification or rejection back to the tenant.
  6. The tenant responds to the point-of-origin accordingly.

Imageware Technology Portfolio#

Imageware Authenticate and GMI server work seamlessly with Imageware’s technology portfolio, including complex biometric data encryption, replication services, and patented identity management configuration. Imageware Authenticate as an app or service is secure, simple to use, and designed to provide instant identity verification by engaging with the biometric capture capabilities of each user's mobile device to:

  • Send customized alerts to users
  • Perform two-way communication
  • Create a biometric enrollment profile against which future verification is validated
  • Store a user's biometric data
  • Perform biometric verification of a user's identity against their enrolled profile

Once the Imageware Authenticate app captures user biometrics, it transmits them to Imageware database servers for storage, encryption, validation, and verification.
